The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics is interested in preparing statistical research that reflects a true picture of the life of the Egyptian citizen from all demographic, social and economic dimensions. Therefore, the agency implements research on income, spending, and consumption, which is one of the most important household researches conducted by statistical agencies in various countries of the world, because it provides detailed data that help in identifying the consumption patterns of society and the changes that occur to those patterns as a result of the social and economic changes that occur from one period to another. It also provides data that enables measuring living standards and determining poverty lines upon which decision makers rely in developing social protection programs, as well as providing the necessary weights for constructing consumer price indices, which are an important indicator for measuring inflation.

Overview
Abstract
The main objective of research on income, spending and consumption is to provide the necessary data for setting policies through:

Identify the average and patterns of consumption expenditure for the individual and the household according to the social, demographic and economic characteristics of the population.

Providing reliable data for measuring the standard of living of families and individuals, as well as establishing databases for measuring poverty and developing social assistance programs.

Calculating the average annual consumption expenditure per person and family for each item of expenditure, studying the factors affecting it.

Identifying the relative distribution of household spending on different expenditure items and using it as weights in calculating the consumer price index, which is an indicator for measuring inflation.

Providing the necessary data to serve the composition of the national accounts, including the input and output tables and commodity balances.

Identify the average household and individual income according to the different sources of income.

Household possession of means of transportation, communication and household appliances in both urban and rural areas for the purpose of calculating the wealth index of the household.
