Design and withdrawal of the survey sample
The sample for the Labor Force Survey is a two-stage, self-weighted, stratified cluster sample.
First, the sample size:
The sample size for each quarter amounted to 22,626 households with a total of 90,504 households annually, distributed by 45.4% for urban, 54.6% for rural, distributed in proportion to the size at the governorate level (urban/rural). The sample is divided into:
a. A New household sample size of 11,340 households per quarter.
B. A sample of 11,286 households for each quarter selected from the corresponding quarter in 2017.
Second: Cluster size:
The cluster size was 18 households.

The 2006 population census provides sufficient data at the level of the enumeration area, and the list of electronic enumeration areas represented the framework of the first stage of sampling (EAS), meaning that the corresponding number of households in the enumeration area was taken as a measure of size, and the size of the enumeration area reached about 200 households in The average, as there were some differences in the sizes of the enumeration areas, and the number of EAS units that were selected in the first stage of the main sample was 5024 enumeration areas.
B- Allocating the sample between governorates:
The governorate is considered the basic primary layer, which is divided into (urban and rural) as sub-layers, and the proportional allocation between the governorates, as well as between urban and rural, was determined in each governorate in the first phase of sampling.
