First: The purpose of the bulletin:Identifying the size and characteristics of Egyptians who obtain permits to work abroad so that the state can draw up foreign immigration policies, to face its negatives and increase the benefit from its positives.
Second: Sources of collecting bulletin data:
The data of the bulletin comes from the General Administration of Work Permits at the Ministry of Interior, as it represents the main reference for listing Egyptians working abroad. As it grants work permits to Egyptian citizens working for foreign bodies or agencies outside the country (governmental - private).
Third: Inclusion:
The bulletin includes data for Egyptians who obtain permits to work abroad in the form of secondments, personal contracts, vacations, workers on foreign ships and those who are considered temporary immigrants, and it does not include the following:
1. Egyptians who work abroad in the government and private sectors, or with Egyptian companies carrying out business abroad.
2. Egyptians abroad on scholarships.
3. Egyptians who work in the diplomatic corps or international organizations.

Overview
The number of permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad, after declining in 2020 due to the effects of the Covid 19 (Corona) pandemic, has returned to consistent numbers during the period (2017-2019).2- The total permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad amounted to 883,000 permits in 2021, compared to 501,000 permits in 2020, with an increase of 76.4? This is due to the lifting of some restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
3- The total permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad (for the first time) amounted to 467 thousand, or 52.9%, permits, and the total permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad (renewal) reached 416 thousand, or 47.1%, permits in 2021.
4- The group of Arab countries came at the forefront of the countries in which Egyptians work abroad, as the number of permits issued to Egyptians to work in them reached 856 thousand, representing 96.9? Of the total permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad in 2021.
5- The number of permits issued to Egyptians to work in the European countries group reached 17448 permits, representing 2.0% of the population. Of the total permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad in 2021.
6- The number of permits issued to males to work abroad reached 863 thousand, representing 97.8%, while the number of permits granted to females to work abroad reached 19,376, representing 2.2%. Of the total number of Egyptians who obtained work permits to work abroad in 2021.
7- Those who obtained permits to work abroad for holders of (intermediate qualifications) represented the largest number, as their number reached 326 thousand, representing 36.9? They are followed by (without qualifications) with 285,000 statements representing 32.3%. Of the total permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad in 2021.
8- The number of permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad who obtained personal contracts amounted to 834 thousand permits, representing 94.5? Fifth: Definitions and concepts used in the bulletin: 1- Work permit: It includes individuals who have obtained a work permit for the first time or renewal. 2- Work permits issued to Egyptians to work abroad are divided according to the type of contract as follows: A- Secondments: These include Egyptian individuals who work in government agencies and the public sector/public business at the request of foreign entities outside Egypt to work for them for a limited period, whom the state agreed to grant permits to work abroad. . B- Personal contracting: it is concerned with individuals contracting with employers directly outside the Arab Republic of Egypt and they do not work in government agencies and the public sector / public works (individuals who work in the private sector or without work). C- Leaves: Individuals include government and public sector/public business employees who have personal work contracts and obtain permits from their employers to work abroad. D - Workers on foreign ships: Individuals who have work permits on foreign ships and hold a maritime passport.
